More gold medals for Nigeria
Nigerian titans: Okagbare, Chukwumerijie, and others

  1. Roundup on the Olympics.

Basketball team D'Tigers qualifies, then wins one game. Leaves London with head held high.

Wish for Lucky Rides in Vanguard news pointed out that we would win if luck was a bigger factor. Turns out many Olympics 2012 results were consistent with the pre-Olympics outcomes. In fact, many Nigerian athletes posted personal/team bests, but that still didn't get them the medals.

Unlike the fans who shouted racial slurs against the Nigerians during a basketball match, unlike the Cameroonians who disappeared from the village, and unlike the USA athlete who had used drugs to win the 4 x 400m relay gold in Athens (giving Nigerian men the gold 12 years later), our conduct was regal and worthy of world-class champions.

Now we regret not having prepared hard and long enough, and vow to do differently for Rio 2016. Hmm, OK. A lot would depend on if the new Minister for Sports can clean up the corruption and cluelessness in Nigerian Sports Administration (or as one analyst put it, lazy administrators, corrupt administrators, ignorant administrators - yikes, what an unfortunate combination.)
